The Department of Public Administration and Law was created on September 1, 2004 as a result of the merger of the Departments of Civil Law and Procedure, Constitutional Law and State Building, Criminal Law and Procedure. In 2007 the Department of Public Administration and Law was reorganized into the Department of Civil and Commercial Law, and in 2019 – into the Department of Legal Support of Economic Activity.
At different times, teaching staff of the Department included leading specialists of state bodies and educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus.
Department Tasks and Main Directions of Activity
The Department conducts educational, scientific, and methodological work on training students on the I and II cycles of higher education in the academic disciplines assigned to the department.
The Department prepares specialists in Public Administration and Law (specialty code 1-26 80 08, II cycle) majoring in Legal Regulation of Administrative Activities in Social and Economic Systems. The department provides students with professionally oriented knowledge and skills, managerial and professional competencies, which enables them to effectively collaborare in solving tasks in a professional context.

Scientific Activities
Research work of the Department is carried out within the framework of the topic "Legal Regulation of Economic Activities of Business Entities in the Conditions of the Functioning of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Other Interstate Entities" (the beginning - quarter I of 2018, the end - quarter IV of 2021).
The first stage deals with the theoretical and applied aspects of the legal status of business entities and conditions for the implementation of activities in the field of liberalization (2018). The second stage deals with the theoretical and applied aspects of ensuring and protecting the rights and legitimate interests of the subjects of civil relations in the context of the development of Eurasian integration (2019). The third stage deals with the legal conditions for carrying out entrepreneurial activity on the territory of the EAEU in the context of digitalization (2020). The fourth (final) stage deals with the main directions of improving the legislation of the Republic of Belarus in the context of formation of a unified system of commodity markets of the EAEU member states (2021).
The staff of the Department, the undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Department, as well as other students of the Institute of Managerial Personnel are working on the research topic.

Within the framework of these scientific areas, the lecturers of the Department publish monographs, scientific articles in leading domestic and foreign journals and collections. Also, educational and methodological manuals are published.
During the academic year, the staff of the Department review textbooks, monographs, articles and other scientific and methodological materials. The lecturers of the Department participate in international and republican scientific and practical seminars, competitions and conferences.
The Department of Legal Support of Economic Activity supervises the research work of students of the Institute of Managerial Personnel in the following areas: civil law and process, business law and process, legal regulation of labor and social relations. The lecturers of the Department guide the preparation of students’ scientific works for the republic and international academic competitions, scientific and practical conferences. As part of the educational process, round tables are held on the most controversial topics in the field of labor law, civil law and process.
The faculty of the Department guide the activities of the students’ scientific club "Civilist", created for the 2nd - 4th year "Public Administration and Law" students of the Institute of Managerial Personnel. The Department has created two innovative workshops: one on the basis of the Minsk Economic Court and the other one on the basis of the Minsk Region Economic Court.
The lecturers of the Department, together with "Public Administration and Law" students, organized the work of the Public Legal Reception Office to provide assistance to underprivileged citizens (legal clinic), prepare responses to citizens' appeals, prepare drafts of claims and other procedural documents.
