The Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus is the leading research centre in the sphere of public administration in the country. The academy conducts fundamental and applied research on the improvement of state policy in the field of management, ideology, training and optimization of the personnel potentiality of the civil service.

The Academy of Public Administration carries out its research and development activities in the following directions:

1. Improvement of the efficiency of public administration system, including

• conducting research in the issues of improving the state personnel policy, policy in the field of ideology, methodological and legal support of the civil service;
• working out the theoretical and methodological foundations for the effective development of the Republic of Belarus in the context of global and regional integration, accelerated modernization, and digitalization.

2. Scientific-methodological and information-analytical support of training, retraining and advanced training of personnel in the field of management, including

• research and development of the theoretical foundations for training personnel in the field of management for state building;
• development and implementation of new educational technologies in the educational process;
• development and implementation into the practice of government bodies, enterprises and organizations of remote automated systems to support continuous self-education of personnel in the field of management.

Over 90 research and innovative projects have been implemented in the recent decade, including the State Program for Innovative Development of the Republic of Belarus for 2011–2015, the National Program for the Accelerated Development of Services in the Field of Information and Communication Technologies for 2011–2015, "Information Society" for 2011–2015, state research programs: "Humanities as a factor in the development of Belarusian society and state ideology", “Informatics and Space”, "Informatics and Space, Scientific Provision of Safety and Protection from Emergencies", "Economy and humanitarian development of the Belarusian society" for 2016-2020, individual innovative projects, grants from the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research.

A large amount of research is carried out within the framework of the Academy's Unified Scientific Direction "Theory and Practice of Public Administration, Reforming the Economy and Continuous Professional Training of Administrative Personnel". The distance learning system is based on the methodology of the national qualifications system and includes an information system for the formation of electronic educational resources and an interactive digitized educational environment.

A distance learning system has been created at the Academy of Management, which provides continuous in-service training of the managerial personnel. Educational programs, Internet conferences, training, consultations, qualification assessment systems linked to a specific workplace and taking into account professional activities are a new step in the system of training the managerial personnel.

The Academy of Public Administration is the organizer of the annual international scientific and practical conferences "Management of Information Resources", "State Regulation of the Economy and Increasing the Efficiency of Business Entities", the Republican scientific and practical conference of students "Theoretical, Methodological and Applied Issues of Public Administration", the International scientific and practical seminar "Professionally Oriented Foreign Language: from Teaching to Effective Communication", etc.

The Academy publishes the Scientific works of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus, the theory and practice journal "Issues of Management" (included in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) on the eLIBRARY.RU platform), listed by the Higher Attestation Commission of Belarus in the editions recommended for publishing the results of dissertation research.

The Academy of Public Administration carries out training of highly qualified scientific and pedagogical personnel in 15 scientific specialties of the economic, legal, sociological, psychological and political science fields.

In 2017, the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus was accredited as a scientific organization (certificate dated December 27, 2017 No. 190).
