Founded in November 1991, the Department of International Relations (before 2004 – the Department of Foreign Economic Activities) administers training of highly qualified specialists on second level (cycle II) of higher education majoring in speciality 1-26 80 07 “Public Administration and Economics”. The Department also conducts post-graduate education in specialities 08.00.14 “World Economy”, 23.00.01 “Theory and Philosophy of Political Science, History and Methodology of Political Science”, 23.00.04 “Political Issues of International Relations of Global and Regional Development”.
Department Tasks and Main Directions of Activity
In organizing the education process, the Department of International Relations strives to
● equip learners with the advanced knowledge in the field of administration, economics and international relations;
● create conditions for personal development and self-realization of learners, the formation of their citizenship and patriotism;
● carry out research activities in the field of international relations and the world economy.
The Department carries out research work, organises scientific events, publishes the results of research findings. Among the recent highlights of the activity are:
● the publication of a collection of scientific articles and study findings “Integration of the Republic of Belarus into the international economic and political processes: prospects and issues of cooperation of the Republic of Belarus with foreign countries”, edited by S. Kizima;
● the organisation of the scientific seminar for lecturers, postgraduate students, and trainees of the department “The Republic of Belarus in the world and regional political and economic processes” - February 26, 2021;
● the organisation of the roundtable discussion “National unity as a factor in strengthening the positions of the Republic of Belarus in the modern world” - March 15, 2021;
● the organisation of the seminar “International business etiquette and cross-cultural communication in modern international relations”, held together with the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines - March 26, 2021.

Scientific Activities
The Department of International Relations acts as an education and scientific center working out the issues of international relations development, world economy, foreign policy and foreign economic relations of the Republic of Belarus, foreign economic activity of organizations.
In accordance with the Academy’s scientific directions and innovative activities, the Department carries out research on “The integration of the Republic of Belarus into the international economic and political processes”. The teaching staff of the Department participate in the implementation of research findings within the framework of the State Research Program “Economy and Humanitarian Development of the Belarusian Society” for 2016 - 2020.
The Department publishes the annual selection of research articles of its staff and students, and hosts international scientific events. The most significant events are the International Scientific Conference “Role of Mentality in State Functioning“ (March 2016), Jean Monnet “European Integration” international scientific seminar (September 2017).
The Department holds scientific sections on international relationships issues, world economy and foreign economic activity at the Academy’s annual international scientific and practical conferences.
In the course of scientific work, the staff generate new ideas developing their own concepts and preparing scientific articles, textbooks and manuals.
The Department has students' scientific club “International Economics”, which unites senior students of the Academy. Students participate in national and international conferences. Every year best students’ works are submitted to the republican and the Academy's competitions where they have been repeatedly awarded with diplomas.
International Scientific Cooperation
The Department of International Relations takes an active part in enhancing and strengthening international cooperation of international educational establishments. On a regular basis, it participates in the implementation of a cooperation agreement between the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus and the University of Rostock (Germany), within the framework of which mutual training and scientific exchanges of teachers are organized.
Starting 2008, the Department has been cooperating with MGIMO (U) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. The experience of MGIMO (U) MFA of Russia was implemented in curricula development for students of "International Relations" of the Civil Service Institute of the Academy, and for postgraduate students majoring in "Management of Foreign Economic Activity" of the speciality "Public Administration and Economics" in the Institute of Managerial Personnel.
Scientific cooperation established with the National Institute of Economic Research of the Republic of Moldova in 2011 resulted in mutual research findings and scientific publications. In 2020, scientific cooperation was established with the Faculty of Business, Management and Economics, the University of Latvia, Riga.
The Department of International Relations maintains regular contacts with the Department of International Security and Foreign Policy of Russia, the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA). Representatives of the department take part in joint scientific online events .
The staff of the Department regularly take part in scientific events abroad. Students’ foreign scientific internships are organised with the universities in Russia, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, and Georgia under the guidance of the department’s professors.
