On May 18th on occasion of International Child Protection Day a social challenge discussion “Childhood’s Special Territory” took place at the Culture and Sports Palace of Railway Employees (Chkalova Street, 7). The event was organised by the Academy’s Department of Public Administration in Social Sphere and Belarusian Studies and Centre for Social and Psychological Work together with Minsk Juvenile Inspectorate of Belarus’ Ministry of Internal Affairs. The event was held with the support of the newspaper “Perehodny Vozrast” (“Awkward Age”).
In the framework of the event a computer programme “Developing Healthy Lifestyle: Computer Technologies in Training Peer Coaches” was presented and distributed among the visitors. The programme was elaborated with the support of the UN Children’s Fund UNICEF. Among the discussion’s participants were officials of Oktyabrsky City District Administration, scientists and public figures, students and specialists on child neglect prevention as well as teenagers put under supervision of Minsk Juvenile Inspectorate of Oktyabrsky City District.
Programme’s objective is to organise a public discussion on issues concerning teenagers and youngsters from high-risk social groups.
