Brief Historical Overview of the Institute of Managerial Education.
Its history dates back to 2009 when the Institute of Public Administration was reorganized into the Institute of Managerial Education in compliance with the Charter of the Academy of Public Administration under the Aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus approved by Decree No. 275 of the President of the Republic of Belarus ‘On Certain Measures for Improving Training, Retraining and In-Service Training of Administrative Personnel’.
The Institute of Managerial Education is aimed at training both school-leavers and graduates of other higher educational institutions in the following specialities:
At present there are 4350 students at the MPI.
There are 3 faculties and the Centre of Social and Psychological Support in the Institute.
Centre of Social and Psychological Support
The curriculum of the Institute of Managerial Education has been worked out on the basis of both national and foreign experience in training specialists for the system of public administration. It is diversified and includes a wide range of subjects from the Humanities to Public Affairs and professional courses. The teaching of modern information technologies and foreign languages is paid a lot of attention to. Students have an opportunity to study two foreign languages (a major and a second one).
Compulsory and optional courses are run not only by the competent and experienced academic staff of the Academy, but also by scholars of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and specialists in the field of public administration. Besides traditional methods of teaching, a variety of advanced educational technologies (business games, role-plays, e-lectures etc.) are widely used in the academic process. All of them are aimed at providing graduates with profound knowledge and practical skills, essential to fulfil a wide range of professional tasks in the spheres of public administration, law, economics, information resources management.
Besides lectures, seminars and tutorials, students are offered to participate in the social life of the Institute. They may join numerous scientific clubs organized by the Institute’s Departments such as ‘Strategist’ (Department of Theory and Practiceof Public Administration), ‘Civilist’ (Department of Civil and Economic Law), ‘SCOFL’ (Department of Foreign Languages), ‘Logos’ (Department of Philosophy) etc.
In 2002, the Students' Scientific Society was organized for students interested in scientific research on current issues in the fields of public administration, law, economics, information resources management. Students' scientific works are presented at conferences held by both the Academy and other higher educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus.
